What we ask you for, why we need it, who else sees it, and how to tell us to delete it. Written in plain English, because you should not need a lawyer to read it.

Shiny Paws is a family-owned pet grooming and dog daycare studio. This policy covers our website at shinypawsla.com and the information we handle in the course of running the business.
When this policy says “we,” “us” or “Shiny Paws,” it means that business. When it says “you,” it means you, the pet parent using our website or our services.
We only ask for what we actually need to look after your dog and to reach you. Here is the whole list.
Our arcade game and leaderboard let you save a score and claim a reward code. If you do, we store the display name you type, your phone number, your dog's name and, for a reward code, your email address. Please use a nickname if you would rather not show a real name on the public leaderboard, and see the Children section below.
We use the information above for these purposes and nothing else:
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your contact details with other businesses for their own marketing.
When you give us your phone number and book a visit, you agree that we may text you about that booking — a confirmation, a reminder the day before, a note if we are running late, a message when your dog is ready, and sometimes a photo of your dog from the day. These are service messages, not advertising.
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Message frequency varies with how often you book.
We email you the same kinds of things: booking confirmations, a copy of an agreement you signed, and occasionally news about Shiny Paws. Any promotional email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you by phone.
We will never text or email you asking for a password, a card number or a bank detail.
Bookings, customer records, pet records and signed agreements are stored in a Firebase Realtime Database, a hosted database service run by Google. Our website is hosted on Netlify, and the small programs that save your booking run on Netlify's servers. Both keep that data on servers in the United States.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise that a determined attacker will never get through. What we can promise is that we keep the amount of data we hold small, we do not store payment details at all, and if we ever learn of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you as required by California law.
We share your information with the companies below only so they can do a job for us. They are not allowed to use your data for their own purposes.
Beyond those service providers, we will share personal information only:
Our pages carry a Google Ads tag (gtag.js). It sets cookies in your browser and reports to Google when someone visits our site and when someone taps our phone number, so that we can tell which ads actually bring pet parents to the shop. It also lets Google show our ads to people who have visited the site.
Two things worth being clear about:
We also use your browser's local storage for practical, non-advertising purposes — remembering that you already signed an agreement, or holding a booking in progress so a refresh does not lose your work.
We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals, because there is still no agreed standard for what a site should do when it receives one.
Live cameras. Our daycare rooms have cameras so you can check in on your dog during the day. The stream addresses are not published on the website: access requires the studio password or a time-limited code we give you, and we can switch access off at any time. Because the cameras point at shared play areas, other people's dogs — and sometimes our staff — will appear in the picture too. Please do not record, screenshot and republish the stream in a way that features someone else's dog or our staff without asking.
Photos of your dog. Our service agreement asks whether we may use photos and videos of your dog on our website and social media. That choice is yours, it is recorded with your agreement, and you can change it at any time by calling us — we will stop using new images and take down what we reasonably can.
Separately from that permission, we may text you photos of your own dog from their visit. That is a service message to you and is not a public post.
We keep customer and pet records for as long as you are a Shiny Paws client, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that your history is still there if you come back and so we can answer a question about a past visit.
When you ask us to delete your information, we do so as described in the next section.
You can ask us, at any time, to:
Call the shop at (310) 437-3077, or ask us in person at 15718 S Manhattan Pl, Units B & C, Gardena, CA 90247. Tell us your name and the phone number on your account so we can find your record and be sure it is really you asking. We aim to handle requests within 45 days.
We will not deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a lower standard of care because you exercised any of these choices.
Shiny Paws is a small local business, and we do not believe we meet the size thresholds that make the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) mandatory for us. We think you should get these protections anyway, so we honor the requests in section 10 — to know, to correct, to delete, and to opt out — from any California resident who asks, regardless of whether the law requires it of us.
For the avoidance of doubt: we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing our services. We have no financial incentive program that trades a discount for your data.
You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we will ask for reasonable proof that you authorized them.
Our services and our website are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
The arcade game on our site is there for fun and kids are welcome to play it, but saving a score to the public leaderboard or claiming a reward code asks for a name, a phone number and an email address. A parent or guardian should be the one entering that. If you believe a child under 13 submitted their information to us, call us at (310) 437-3077 and we will delete it.
Our pages link out to places like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Yelp and Google. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's website, under their privacy policy, not ours. We are not responsible for how they handle your information.
If we change how we handle your information — adding a new service provider, turning on a new advertising feature, collecting something new — we will update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. If the change is a significant one, we will make a point of telling you rather than quietly editing the page.
Questions about this policy, or about anything we hold on you or your dog, come straight to us:
A real person answers. If we cannot resolve something on the phone, ask for the owner.
One call does it. Tell us your name and the phone number on your account, and we will pull up your record with you on the line.
